FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is FasterMessage?
FasterMessage is an African multichannel communication platform (CPaaS) that brings sending, automation and tracking of your customer messages into a single tool: SMS, WhatsApp, email and voice. It is aimed at organizations whose messages are critical and measurable — OTP, transaction alerts, notifications, reminders, campaigns — and focuses on reliability, deliverability through local carrier routes, and real-time tracking. You manage your sends from a dashboard, or directly via the API and SDKs.
Which communication channels does FasterMessage offer?
Four channels are available on the same platform, with the same tracking and the same billing: SMS for maximum reach, WhatsApp for rich, interactive conversation, email for detailed and lasting content, and voice for automated calls. You pick the channel that fits each message — or let cross-channel fallback automatically switch to a backup channel if the primary one does not get through. Everything runs through a single integration and a single balance.
How does SMS sending and its deliverability work?
SMS sending relies on direct carrier routes (rather than "grey" routes) and on a declared sender ID where required: these are two key deliverability factors in Africa. Every message returns a delivery receipt (DLR) in real time, so you know exactly what is sent, delivered or failed, per carrier and per country. The platform handles encoding (GSM-7 or Unicode) and splitting into 160-character segments, and triggers cross-channel fallback on failure.
How do I send WhatsApp messages with FasterMessage?
WhatsApp requires a Meta-approved template to start a conversation outside the 24-hour window following the customer's last message; within that window, you send rich session messages (text, images, documents, interactive buttons). FasterMessage handles template submission and tracking, their category (Marketing, Utility or Authentication), custom variables ({{1}}, {{2}}…) filled from your contacts, as well as your number's quality rating, which governs your daily sending tiers.
Can I send transactional and marketing emails?
Yes. Email covers both transactional (receipts, OTP, order confirmations, invoices) and marketing (newsletters, campaigns), from one or more verified sending addresses. SPF, DKIM and DMARC authentication, combined with a carefully managed sender reputation, maximizes inbox placement rather than spam. You track opens, clicks, bounces and complaints to measure engagement and keep your lists clean.
What is the voice channel for?
The voice channel delivers automated calls: a message read by text-to-speech (TTS) in several languages, or an audio file you upload. It is especially useful for phone OTP, payment reminders, urgent alerts and audiences with low literacy or low data coverage, where reading a screen is not guaranteed. You track the answer rate (ASR), call duration and the DTMF keys pressed, and you can set up automatic SMS fallback if there is no answer.
Does FasterMessage handle OTP and verification?
Yes. FasterMessage handles the entire one-time-code lifecycle: generation, validity period, number of attempts and validation — you neither generate nor store it server-side. The OTP can be sent over SMS, WhatsApp or voice, with automatic fallback from one channel to another to make delivery reliable. Anti-fraud safeguards (rate limiting, anomaly detection) protect your users without blocking them.
What is automatic cross-channel fallback?
Cross-channel fallback is a cascade you configure in advance: if the primary channel fails or does not get through within a given time, the message is automatically re-sent on the next channel — for example SMS, then WhatsApp, then voice. This turns a silent failure into a successful delivery on another channel, with no manual work. You keep control of the channel order and of the time thresholds that trigger each switch.
How do I integrate FasterMessage with my application?
Integration is done through a simple REST API: one send endpoint per channel (for example /v1/sms/send), API-key authentication, and webhooks to receive delivery receipts (DLR) in real time. Official SDKs are provided for Node.js, PHP, Python and Java, along with ready-made plugins for WordPress, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Shopify. Thanks to the documentation and a test environment, most teams send their first message in minutes.
Which countries and carriers are covered in Africa?
FasterMessage favors reliable local routes across West Africa and beyond, drawing on deep knowledge of the continent's carriers and interconnections. The exact coverage — countries, carriers, price per destination and Sender ID registration constraints — is provided on request, as it evolves with local markets and regulations. If a specific carrier matters to you, we confirm the route and the provisioning times.
How does pricing work?
Pricing is usage-based: a monthly platform subscription, plus a per-message cost that depends on the channel (SMS, WhatsApp, email, voice), the carrier and the destination country — you only pay for what you use. Three plans exist: Starter self-service, Business and Enterprise on quote, the latter two benefiting from volume-based tiered pricing. The detailed per-country, per-channel rate card is provided on request.
Are my data and my messages secure?
Yes. Exchanges are encrypted in transit, access is role-based and logged, and your API key can be regenerated at any time if in doubt. The processing of personal data is declared with Benin's Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP), in line with local law, and the architecture is designed to meet the GDPR depending on your use. Your data is neither sold nor shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
